Ingredients
- 125g unsalted butter
- 300g plain flour
- 100g white sugar
- 1 egg
- 3–4 large Granny Smith apples
- Rolled oats
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180C (350F).
- Grease a 20cm/8" square baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
- Stir in the egg and press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until slightly golden; let cool for 5 minutes.
- Mix diced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; spread over baked base.
- Crumble remaining dough on top and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until golden.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
