Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 9 by 9-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter.
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, salt, cayenne pepper, and remaining butter; bring to a boil while stirring.
- Gradually add the instant grits, stirring continuously until smooth.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer uncovered for about 6-8 minutes until creamy.
- Stir in one cup of cheddar until melted, then pour into the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
