Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition; stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently.
- Press half the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish; drizzle caramel sauce over it.
- Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top of the caramel layer and spread gently.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars; sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
