  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition; stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  7. Press half the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish; drizzle caramel sauce over it.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top of the caramel layer and spread gently.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  10. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars; sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
