Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup dried cherries (or chopped maraschino cherries)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in each egg one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips and dried cherries.
- Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
