  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 12 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Additional melted butter and fresh parsley for finishing touches

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast by mixing warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, salt, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing minced garlic with shredded cheese.
  6. Punch down risen dough; divide into 12 pieces. Shape each piece around about a tablespoon of cheese-garlic filling.
  7. Place rolls seam-side down in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush rolls with melted butter and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Brush with melted butter again after baking; sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
