Ingredients
- 2 slices of your choice of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 2 slices of deli ham
- 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)
- 1 tablespoon softened butter
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. If desired, add Dijon mustard to one non-buttered side.
- On the non-buttered side of one slice, layer the deli ham followed by the cheese. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in it. Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip carefully with a spatula and toast the other side until golden and cheese melts (about another 3-4 minutes).
- Once done, remove from skillet, let cool for a minute, slice in half, and enjoy while still warm!
