- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter or cream cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
- Salt the cucumber slices and let them sit on paper towels for 20 minutes to draw out moisture. Pat dry.
- Spread butter or cream cheese evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the cucumber slices over half of the bread slices, overlapping slightly.
- Season with salt and pepper; add optional ingredients if desired. Top with remaining bread slices.
- Trim crusts and cut each sandwich into desired shapes before serving.
