- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the applesauce, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples and nuts if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool before cutting into squares.
