- 4 large croissants
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- ½ cup chocolate chips or desired filling (such as pastry cream or fruit jam)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Cut each croissant in half horizontally to create pockets for filling.
- Fill the pockets with chocolate chips or your chosen filling.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry each stuffed croissant half cut side down for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Dust warm beignets generously with powdered sugar before serving.
