  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Red and green sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Add eggs and vanilla; stir until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, sift cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. Fold into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in chocolate chips and optional peppermint extract.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
  6. For the frosting, beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and peppermint extract until smooth.
  7. Spread frosting over cooled brownies and top with red and green sprinkles.
