- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat; add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Stir in ground turmeric, salt, and black pepper; cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat with oil and spices. Pour in water or broth and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.
- Remove from heat; let sit covered for an additional 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Garnish with fresh parsley.
