- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup unsulfured molasses
- Royal icing (for decorating)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla; mix well.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Chill the dough in disk shapes wrapped in plastic for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out chilled dough to ¼-inch thickness; cut into ghost shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set; cool on wire racks.
- Once cooled, decorate with royal icing.
