- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 large egg whites, at room temperature
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; mix well.
- Add butter and beat until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add buttermilk and vanilla; mix until combined.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
- Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool in pans for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
