Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup Nutella (for filling)
- Red and green sprinkles (for decorating)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about ¼-inch thickness.
- Use gingerbread man cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Place the cutouts onto ungreased baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are firm. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, spread a generous amount of Nutella on half of the cookies. Top them with remaining cookies to create sandwiches.
- Add red and green sprinkles on top of the filled gingerbread men for a festive touch.
- These Nutella Gingerbread Men are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
