  • ¾ cup whole milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Filling: ¼ cup lemon juice, ½ cup brown sugar, lemon zest, and butter for spreading
  • Glaze: powdered sugar, lemon juice, and milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warmed milk, melted butter, egg, and lemon zest; mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl and let it rise covered for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar with lemon zest and softened butter until combined.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (12Ă—18 inches) and spread filling evenly over it. Roll tightly from one long edge and slice into 12 pieces.
  6. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While baking, whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth.
  9. Once baked, drizzle glaze over slightly cooled rolls.
