- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup whole milk (warmed to 110°F)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Filling: ¼ cup lemon juice, ½ cup brown sugar, lemon zest, and butter for spreading
- Glaze: powdered sugar, lemon juice, and milk
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warmed milk, melted butter, egg, and lemon zest; mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl and let it rise covered for about 1 hour or until doubled.
- Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar with lemon zest and softened butter until combined.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (12Ă—18 inches) and spread filling evenly over it. Roll tightly from one long edge and slice into 12 pieces.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth.
- Once baked, drizzle glaze over slightly cooled rolls.
