- 1 teaspoon sugar

- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Sauté the onion in olive oil over medium heat until soft. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil then simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes.
- Blend the soup until smooth using an immersion blender or regular blender.
- Stir in heavy cream over low heat until fully combined and heated through.
- Serve garnished with fresh basil if desired.
