  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 68 tablespoons cold water
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in the chilled butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into two discs and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Prepare the filling by combining diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour.
  5. Roll out one disc of dough and cut circles to fit a muffin tin. Fill with apple mixture.
  6. Roll out the second disc and place on top; seal edges and brush with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
