Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add vanilla and eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with milk until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
- For frosting: Beat butter until creamy; gradually add confectioners' sugar until smooth. Mix in vanilla and heavy cream until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cake and top with fresh berries arranged in a patchwork pattern.
