- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
- 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Cook lasagna noodles in a large pot until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the Italian sausage; season with salt and pepper.
- Sauté onion and bell pepper in the same skillet until softened; add garlic and cook briefly.
- Mix in pizza sauce with the sausage and let simmer for a few minutes.
- Layer half of the sausage mixture in an oven-safe skillet or casserole dish; add half the noodles, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
- Top with Parmesan cheese, cover with foil, and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
