- 1 pound ground lamb or beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground meat, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
- Stir in chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic; sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, green peas, and thyme. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pour the meat mixture into a baking dish and spread mashed potatoes on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
