Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon green food coloring
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually mix into the butter mixture.
- Divide dough in half; mix cocoa powder into one half and green food coloring into the other.
- Chill both doughs wrapped in plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out each dough to about ÂĽ inch thick; cut into strips.
- Layer colored strips to form a block; refrigerate again for firming.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice dough into cookies and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool before serving.
