  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon green food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla.
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually mix into the butter mixture.
  3. Divide dough in half; mix cocoa powder into one half and green food coloring into the other.
  4. Chill both doughs wrapped in plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out each dough to about ÂĽ inch thick; cut into strips.
  6. Layer colored strips to form a block; refrigerate again for firming.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice dough into cookies and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Allow cookies to cool before serving.
