  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar
  • Salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water until dough forms. Chill for at least an hour.
  2. For the filling, toss sliced apples with lemon juice and spices.
  3. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out one dough disc for the base and fill with apple mixture.
