- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup apple butter
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar; let sit until foamy.
- Mix in remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add flour until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread apple butter mixed with cinnamon on top, and roll tightly.
- Cut into slices and let rise again for about 30-45 minutes in a greased baking dish.
- Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the frosting by mixing cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until fluffy.
- Frost warm rolls before serving.
