Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warmed milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar; let sit until foamy.
- Mix in remaining sugar, salt, egg, and melted butter. Gradually add flour until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth; let rise in a greased bowl for 1-1.5 hours.
- For the filling, blend cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Chill.
- Cook diced apples in butter with brown sugar and cinnamon until slightly softened; cool.
- Prepare streusel by cutting cold butter into flour and sugar until crumbly.
- Shape risen dough into balls and create indentations; fill with cream cheese and apple mixture; top with streusel.
- Let rise again briefly before baking at 375°F for about 18-22 minutes.
