Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, very cold
- 6 medium Granny Smith apples
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- Coarse turbinado sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Make the Pie Crust: Whisk flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Divide and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

- Roll Out Dough: Roll one disc to fit a pie dish; place it inside and chill while preparing the lattice.
- Create Lattice Top: Roll out the second disc and cut it into strips. Weave the strips over the apple filling.
- Seal the Edges: Fold bottom crust over lattice edges and crimp to seal.
- Bake: Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with turbinado sugar, and bake at 425°F for 15 minutes; reduce to 375°F for an additional 40–50 minutes until golden brown.
