Ingredients
- 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups grated Gruyere cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 1 fresh sage sprig
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Layer one-third of the sweet potatoes in the baking dish, sprinkle with 1/2 cup Gruyere and half the sage, then pour in one-third of the cream mixture.
- Repeat layering two more times.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil, top with remaining cheese, and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
