Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (15 ounces) great northern beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef; cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add onion and bell pepper; cook until softened (5-7 minutes).
- Stir in garlic; cook for another minute.
- Return beef to pot; add tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, and broth.
- Mix in spices; stir well.
- Bring to simmer, then reduce heat to low; cover and cook for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Adjust seasonings before serving hot.
